Crescent City Football Club joins the Gulf Coast Premier League for 2020

New Orleans, LA – (January 15th) Crescent City Football Club (CCFC) are set to participate in the Gulf Coast Premier League for 2020.

The Gulf Coast Premier League (GCPL) was founded in 2014 and operated as the Louisiana Premier League (LPL) under the auspices of the Louisiana Soccer Association (LSA) and consisted of all Louisiana clubs.  In 2016 the league expanded to the Gulf Coast Premier League, sanctioned by USASA, and currently have 18 clubs from Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas competing.

GCPL All-Time scoring leader, Reece Wilson, featured in an invitational friendly v. Gulf Coast Galaxy in December.

“This project has been ongoing since 2015,” said club Director and General Manager Jonathan Rednour. “Having spent the last few years studying the american soccer landscape, we feel the GCPL aligns with how we envision the club growing.”

Crescent City Football Club was founded in 2015 by New Orleans’ soccer enthusiasts, players and coaches.  Over the years, the club only participated in a few friendlies while surveying the soccer scene in the US.

“New Orleans has a very strong, but interesting, soccer community,” added Rednour. “There was a good bit of research put in to developing relationships with the other like minded entities in the city. We want to see this sport grow and having a better understanding on how the local community operates, gives us better insight on what voids we can help fill.”

Local player and All-Conference Freshman, Ethan Garvey, currently competes at the University of Evansville in NCAA Division 1.

The club will look to feature the top players from in and around the New Orleans area, offering year round training and competition for any individuals looking to further their development.

“There’s definitely a good opportunity for player development,” said CCFC Vice President Robbie McCray. “Regardless if it’s a top high school player, collegiate athlete or the guy that is looking to extend his playing career at the highest level possible. We want to offer top players in the community a play and learn.”

Club President PJ Lynch added, “We’re looking for this to be a community driven project. New Orleans is loaded with players and fans that we’re wanting to engage with and we feel the GCPL allows us to do just that.”

The Gulf Coast Premier League regular season will begin in early May and end in late July. Conferences and league schedule will be announced at a later date.
