Successful tryouts shows promise for future in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA (April 5th) – The clubs first ever open tryouts showed plenty of potential with over 50 trialists in participation.

“It was a great turnout for our first tryout,” said General Manager, Jonathan Rednour. “With a lot of kids still in college and some understandable concerns with COVID, we were hoping to get at least 20, we were very happy with the turnout.”

CCFC midfielder Keir Hannity runs a session with the trialist.

In attendance were also the club’s U23 prospects who have been training in the club’s U23 program since the beginning of the 2019 Fall Showcase.

“We invited out the young guys who have been training in our system for a few months to keep the level high,” said Head Coach, Wilmer Peralta. “For us to consider any first team caliber players, they need to show that they are just as good, if not better, than the guys who have been training with first team players these past few months.”

8v8 session in progress

“The amount of young talent that showed up and performed was promising,” said club President, PJ Lynch. “These tryouts are always about trying to find one or two diamonds in the rough, but we were treated with seeing a handful of young prospects that could grow our U23 program tremendously, which will ultimately grow our pool for the first team.”

The club will be calling back prospects and inviting them out to sessions to further evaluate their placement in the club.
